Boiled Eggs for the Needy and Homeless
‘ …. for I was hungry and you gave me food, thirsty and you gave me something to drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you gave me clothing, sick and you took care of me … “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”’ Matthew 25.35,40
Every third Sunday of the month is designated an “Egg Sunday” and offers us an opportunity to extend our hospitality as an act of outreach and inclusion to those whose life circumstances have rendered them homeless and often hungry. We encourage you to bring as many hard-boiled eggs as you are able each third Sunday so that we may play our part in one of downtown Miami‘s feeding programs and offer some comfort and hope to those who are discomfited and hopeless.
The folks at Feed My Sheep, have re-named the Month of "October", and it is now called "Socktober." We bring clean white socks for distribution to the homeless as well. the program has procured portable showers, which are set up on a fairly regular basis. Our Eggs help out many, many grateful people.
